Metro Academic and Classical High School

Metro Academic and Classical School is a high school in St. Louis. The current principal is Wilfred Doug Moore.

A member of the St. Louis Public Schools, it serves about 300 students from 9th to 12th grade. This school is a part of the IB Diploma Programme.

Awards and Rankings

In 2004, Metro was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. In 2005, it was placed 48th on Newsweek's Top 1200 High Schools list. In 2006, it was ranked 40th. On November 2nd, 2006, Metro students won first, second, and third prize in the National Vocabulary Competition, with first prize winner Noah Berman going to the National Vocabulary Competition finals in New York.

Metro's girls basketball team won first place in their division at the state championships in 2006 and 2007, and were runners-up in 2004 and 2005. In 2007, the girls track and field team, which is class 2, was 3rd in state.
