The Riverfront Times (also known as the RFT) is a popular alternative newsweekly in St. Louis. The paper was founded in 1977 and has a weekly circulation of over 100,000. It is widely distributed at bars and restaurants around the St. Louis area. Critics have accused the paper of an extreme liberal bias in its news coverage. The RFT has received over three dozen awards from the Missouri Press Association, including the group's Gold Cup, awarded to the best weekly publication in the state. The paper is known for it's aggressive investigative journalism.
The Riverfront Times annually publishes "The Best of St. Louis" which has everything from "Best Burger" to "Best Place to Go When You've Got a Screw Loose."
